Situated at the very geographical center of Nepal, the districts of Dhading, Gorkha, Rasuwa, and Nuwakot hold a profound significance in the nation’s history. It was from these hills that the courageous Gorkha hillsmen, under the leadership of Prithvi Narayan Shah, embarked on a historic mission to unite Nepal during the late 1700s. Their remarkable journey and subsequent accomplishments earned Gorkha soldiers international acclaim for their unwavering bravery and unparalleled warrior skills.

Day 1 Kathmandu to Shyabru Besi 1503m/4945Ft. 8-9 hrs drive

Embark on an early morning journey from Kathmandu to Shyabru Besi, the gateway to Langtang Valley. Enjoy a mesmerizing drive through scenic routes, passing Trisuli Bazaar, Ramche Gaon, and Dhunche Bazaar. Day 2 Shyabru Besi to Chawatar (lunch) to Gatlang 2337m/7690Ft. 5- 6 hrs hike

Follow a zig-zagging dirt track westward to Bahun Danda Pass and descend to the Tamang village of Gatlang. This cornerstone village on the Tamang Heritage Trail showcases unique customs and craftsmanship amidst a stunning backdrop. Above Gatlang is the revered Parvati Kund, a sacred pond and temple attracting numerous pilgrims during Janai Purnima.

Day 3 Gatlang to Parvati Kund ,Yuri Kharka (lunch)- Somdang 3271m/10760Ft. 6 - 7 hrs

The trail ascends through lush forests of pine and rhododendron, passing Yuri Kharka and Khurpu Bhanjyang. Descend to the Somdang River, marking the border between Rasuwa and Dhading districts. In the scenic valley lies a sprawling, inactive mining compound. Locals are urging the government to revive it. The hike showcases the breathtaking Chukarma Waterfall and reveals a former mine with a 1.4 km tunnel used for extracting precious minerals like zinc, copper, tin, crystal, and rubies.

Day 4 Somdang to Pangsang (aka Pangsang) Pass (La) 3842m/ 12640Ft 3 ½ hrs

Pangsang Kharka, southwest of Somdang village, offers a sweeping panorama of the surrounding terrain. The majestic peaks of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal adorn the northern horizon. This vast meadow is ideal for camping, providing an unforgettable experience amidst breathtaking scenery. The Ganesh Himal region is abundant in herbal plants, which were historically traded along ancient routes for salt, livestock, wool, and turquoise. This hill is renowned for its magnificent 270-degree views of the Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Annapurna ranges. As tea houses are yet to be developed, it is advisable to bring your own tent or seek shelter in local yak huts, ensuring you have ample supply of dry fruits and food.

Day 5 Pangsan Pass to Tipling (lunch ) - Shertung 1875m/ 6188Ft. 5-6 hrs

Descend to Tipling, a vibrant village hosting two Buddhist gombas and churches for both Protestants and Catholics. Nearby, a ridge-top features a gomba and cremation ground adorned with colorful flags, serving Buddhists and Christians alike. Tipling showcases the captivating Tamang culture, including enchanting dances like jhankri and ghode, originating from Tibetan traditions. Crossing the Adha Khola on a box bridge, ascend to the sister villages of Shertung and Chalish. Shertung, known as the "place of gold," is home to the Tamang people, whose rich culture intertwines Hindu and Buddhist practices. Explore sacred sites like Chyamra Dandd, Fyanchyat Monastery, and Sajyat, while enjoying breathtaking views of Lapsang Karpo, Ganesh Himal, and surrounding peaks.

Day 6 Visit Hot Springs (2 ½ hrs walk) and trek back Chalish Gaon 1674m/ 5505Ft. 5 hrs

After breakfast, trek 30 minutes to Chalish village. Leave luggage and trek 1 ½ hours to Tatopani (hot springs) for a refreshing bath. Return to Chalish village. Chalish is inhabited by Gurung, Ghale, and Kami people known for their hospitality and unique customs. Enjoy traditional dances like Ghatu, Dohori, and Maruni during festivals. Gurung men wear vangra, a woven cloth pouch. Visit Sri Tinkanya Devi Mandir and experience the friendly culture of this village, where many youngsters are involved in tourism.

Day 7 Chalish to Ukhum (lunch) - Jharlang (Ungul) 3000 m/9900Ft. 5-6 hrs

After breakfast, trek to Mani Danda for stunning views of Ganesh Himal ranges. Pass through Deul danda, Gobre village, Chhap danda, and Bandari Bhir. Rock climbing is possible in this area. Reach Borang village, inhabited by Tamang people, and continue to Ukhum for lunch. Trek through Lishne jungle, cross a suspension bridge, and pass through Chhapchyat village to reach Jharlang village, known for its panoramic mountain views. This Tamang village has around 200 houses.

Day 8 Jharllang Gaun to Darkha Gaun 850m/ 2805Ft. 6-7 hrs

After breakfast, trek downhill for about 2 ½ hours to Jharlang Phedi, enjoying paddy terraces and scenic landscapes. Cross suspension bridges with breathtaking views of Ankhu Khola, Chyamchyat, and Ri village. Finally, arrive at Darkha Gaon, a culturally diverse village with Brahmin, Tamang, and Dalit communities.

Day 9 Darkha Gaun – Darkha Phedi to Dhading Besi – Kathmandu 1310m/4323ft. 6 -7 hrs drive

After breakfast, trek downhill to Darkha Phedi in 45 minutes. From there, take a shared local jeep for a 3-4 hour rough road drive to Dhading Besi, passing through Ankhu Khola, Kimdang Phedi, Katunje, and Jyamrung villages. Then, switch buses and continue the 3-hour drive back to Kathmandu.
