Join Our Dedicated Volunteer Tours in Ruby Valley

Spanning from July to August, with occasional sessions in December and January, as well as during the winter months, our program warmly welcomes over 20 student volunteers from France. Their dedicated involvement launches the Ruby Valley Walk, kickstarting their active participation in supplying essential school materials, sports equipment, and medicines to residents of all age groups.

The laudable impact of this program extends far and wide, benefiting at least six local schools and over 1,100 students. In roughly a month, volunteers tackle diverse projects including English language teaching, health education, hygiene training, and environmental education. Notably, successful initiatives encompass waste collection bulletin boards, waste management pits, and the introduction of Dokos, small Himalayan bamboo products. Their commendable efforts underscore the profound significance of volunteering in Nepal, especially within the Manikya Valley of the Ganesh Himal region.

The Volunteer Tours Trekking 17 Day in Ruby Valley Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu to Dhading Besi (612m/2,007ft) and Borang Village (1,750m/5,740ft), 9 to 10
hours driving

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and at 6:30 AM, drop by taxi to the New Bus Station. You board a regular public bus heading to Dhading Besi. The bus journey takes approximately 3 hours. Upon your arrival at Dhading Besi, you will switch to another regular public jeep, sharing the ride with fellow travelers. This jeep will take you on a 7-8 hour journey to Borang Village, where you will spend the night in a homestay.

Day 2: Trek to Sertung Village (2,020m/6,626ft)  and Chalish Village.
             (1,750m/5,740ft), 3 to 4 hours walking

Start your day with breakfast at the homestay, then embark on a 2-3 hour trek to Sertung Village. Along the way, you’ll pass through Awoi Village and enjoy stunning views of the Ganesh Himal ranges. Arrive at Galga Danda for breathtaking vistas before reaching Sertung Village for lunch. Explore Sertung’s heritage sites, including the Ghale Durbar, Phyanchya Monastery, Chyamra Danda, Khaten, and Pang Gang Gompa. Return to the starting point and continue the trek to Chalish Village. Experience Gurung culture with a warm welcome from the Gurung mother group and stay overnight in a homestay. This day entire team members discuss and plan in different villages to work.

 

Day 3: to Day 16: Team Members work for HEET Project Work (Health, Environment, Education and Tourism)

Your translator/volunteer gives you responsibility to work for HEET project. Health (if anyone from health background), Environment (Waste Management, Sanitation, cleaning villages etc..) Education (Teach English to school children and mother group in the evening) and Tourism (homestay awareness or tourism promotional awareness orientation) program. We choose Chalish, Sertung, Kharsa and Awoi as well as Borang Village for the time being. Accordingly if more people then we serve more villages.

 

Day 17: Trek to Borang Village via Sertung Village (2 to 3 hours walking) and then drive back to Kathmandu by regular public Jeep and Bus (9 to 10 hours driving). 

Take Breakfast at Chalish Village then trek to Borang Village. Take regular local sharing Jeep and drive to Dhading Besi (7 to 8 hours driving). Once you arrive in Dhading Besi you change another regular local bus. Then drive back to Kathmandu (3 hours driving). Finally, we drop you to your hotel.
