Day 1 Kathmandu to Shyabru Besi 1503m/4945Ft. 8-9 hrs drive

From Kathmandu, start your Langtang Valley journey by taking an early morning local bus or a private 4WD. Arrive at Shyabru Besi, the gateway to the valley, where the Bhote Kosi and Langtang Rivers converge. Enjoy a mesmerizing scenic drive, passing through Trisuli Bazaar, Ramche Gaon, and Dhunche Bazaar. The narrow and adventurous zig-zag roads add to the excitement, offering stunning landscapes along the way and setting the stage for a great start to your trek..

Day 2 Shyabru Besi to Chawatar (lunch) to Gatlang 2337m/7690Ft. 5- 6 hrs hike

A zig-zagging dirt track leads west to Bahun Danda Pass and descends to Gatlang, a significant Tamang settlement on the Tamang Heritage Trail. Alternatively, hike to Gatlang via Chawatar. Gatlang offers a remarkable setting with its unique customs, craftsmanship, and a backdrop of natural beauty. Above Gatlang, you'll find Parvati Kund, a sacred pond and temple that attracts thousands of pilgrims during Janai Purnima.

Day 3 Gatlang to Parvati Kund ,Yuri Kharka (lunch)- Somdang 3271m/10760Ft. 6 - 7 hrs

The trail takes you through a beautiful forest of pine and rhododendron, passing by Yuri Kharka for lunch. Continue to Khurpu Bhanjyang and descend to the Somdang River, which marks the border between Rasuwa and Dhading districts. Further north, you'll find a defunct mining compound that locals are urging the government to revive. Along the hike, enjoy the scenic valley adorned with the magnificent Chukarma Waterfall. The former mine offers exploration opportunities, featuring a 1.4 km tunnel that was used for extracting various minerals such as zinc, copper, tin, crystal, and even precious rubies.

Day 4 Somdang to Pangsang (aka Pangsang) Pass (La) 3842m/ 12640Ft 3 ½ hrs

Pangsang Kharka, located southwest of Somdang village, offers a sweeping panoramic view of the surrounding terrain, including the soaring peaks of Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal Range. This vast meadow features a grand entry gateway and serves as a sensational camping spot to immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery. The Ganesh Himal region is renowned for its abundant herbal plants, historically traded with Tibet along ancient routes for salt, livestock, wool, and turquoise. While efforts are underway to build a lodge, it is currently recommended for trekkers to bring their own tents for camping or seek shelter in basic yak huts. It is also advisable to carry dry fruits or food for dinner.

Day 5 Pangsang Pass – Laptung (lunch) – Linju 2020m/ 6666Ft 5-6 hrs

Experience the best sunrise and breathtaking 270-degree mountain views before enjoying breakfast. Descend to Laptung village, passing through dense forests of pine and magnificent Rhododendrons. After lunch in Laptung, continue the trek, passing Phyang village, scenic paddy terraces, and surrounding landscapes, until reaching Linju Village. Although tourism development is limited in this area, the Ganesh Himal Tourism Development Committee has established small community lodges where trekkers and visitors can enjoy local basic meals.

Day 6 Linju - Chalish 1674m/5505Ft 4-5 hrs

After breakfast, trek for 30 minutes to Chalish village. Leave most of your luggage and hike for 1 ½ hours to Tatopani (hot springs) where you can enjoy a packed lunch (no lodge available). Spend the day bathing in one of the best hot springs in the region and then return to Chalish village. Chalish village is primarily inhabited by Gurung, Ghale, and Kami communities. The hospitable locals have unique customs, craftsmanship, and traditional dances. Festivals feature dances like Maruni Dance, Hai Nelo Dance, and Ghatu (Ghasiri Dance). Gurung men traditionally wear vangra, a woven cotton cloth serving as a pouch. Sri Tinkanya Devi Mandir is located above Chalish, where local women tie cloth or leave bangles near a small pool surrounded by flowers. In the evening, the mother group of Chalish village will welcome you with a typical Gurung dance program and cultural show.

Day 7 Chalish - hot springs (lunch) to Tir Gaon 1866m/6140ft 5 hrs

After breakfast, bid farewell to the villagers and trek down to Khar Khola (30 minutes walk). Cross a suspension bridge and ascend a hilly terrain to reach Pasabar, then continue to Tatopani (hot spring) with a 1 ½ hour walk. Enjoy lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing in the hot spring by the riverbank. Afterward, continue trekking to Tir Gaon, a small Gurung village where Tamang people also reside. Be cautious as some parts of the trail involve walking through steep and potentially hazardous areas, guided by a local guide. In 1990, a significant landslide named Templa danda had caused casualties and damage, but the situation has stabilized. Although there are no developed community lodges, the locals are welcoming and offer small huts for overnight stays.

Day 8 Tir Gaon to Lapchet (lunch) to Lapa Gaon 1850m/ 6105ft 4-5 hrs

After breakfast, trek to Ludo Danda and arrive at Rachyat village. Take caution while traversing the hilly valley, guided by a local guide for safety. Pass through Gurung's Lapchyat village and Tamang's Kupchyat village, eventually reaching Lapa gaon. This is one of the largest villages in the region, primarily inhabited by Tamang people who showcase their beautiful culture through occasional performances. Lapa gaon currently has two basic lodges, with others being constructed to accommodate future tourists for added comfort.

Day 9 Lapa to Ukhum (lunch) – Jharlang (Ungul) 3000m/ 9900ft 5-6 hrs

After breakfast, trek downhill to Ankhu Khola (1 ½ hours walk), cross a suspension bridge, and continue with a slight uphill climb to reach Ukhum for lunch. Resume trekking to Lishne jungle, cross another suspension bridge, and pass through Chhapchyat village before arriving at Jharlang village (Ungul). Jharlang offers stunning panoramic mountain views and is a Tamang village comprising around 200 houses.

Day 10 Jharllang Gaun to Darkha Gaun 850m/ 2805Ft. 6-7 hrs

After breakfast, trek downhill for approximately 2 ½ hours, passing through picturesque paddy terraces and captivating landscapes. Cross suspension bridges and enjoy breathtaking views of Ankhu Khola, Chyamchyat, and Ri village on the opposite side of the river. Finally, arrive at Darkha gaon, a village known for its mixed cultural population of Brahmin, Tamang, and Dalit communities.

Day 11 Darkha Gaun – Darkha Phedi to Dhading Besi – Kathmandu 1310m/4323ft. 6 -7 hrs drive

After breakfast, trek downhill for 45 minutes to Darkha Phedi. From there, take a shared local Jeep with other passengers and embark on a 3-4 hour drive along rough zig-zag roads to reach Dhading Besi. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you pass through Ankhu Khola, Kimdang Phedi village, Katunje village, and Jyamrung village. From Dhading Besi, switch to another bus for a 3-hour drive back to Kathmandu.
